NatWest, Vision Park, Histon

Guest speaker: Alison Seekings

"Is your company still open for business - taking advantage of the downturn"

The latest in Bailey Fisher's popular series of Finance 4 Technology lunch events took place on 18 September at the office of NatWest.

Finance 4 Technology offers finance professionals working within the technology sector in the Cambridge area an opportunity to meet with their peers to share ideas and make new contacts in a very informal setting.

We were delighted to welcome Alison Seekings from Grant Thornton as our speaker and sponsor at this event. Alison is an audit partner based in the Cambridge office, specialising in technology, working with entrepreneurial businesses from start ups to AIM listed entities.

The topic for this event was "Is your company still open for business - taking advantage of the downturn". One year on from the collapse of Lehman Brothers, business in the UK, as in the rest of the world, is still facing great financial turbulence. We are now starting to see how the current economic crisis is affecting attitudes towards innovation. Today's economy simply makes more stark the simple underlying strategic choice between the potential risk of innovation v the potential rewards. Businesses will tend to fall into one of 2 categories - those putting investment and entrepreneurship on hold - regressing to a management focus or seeing the current times as opportunities for change and taking more risks - to make progress more rapidly.

Attendance at Finance 4 Technology is by invitation. If you are a finance professional in the Cambridge area and would be interested in attending, please contact Rachel Keaveney on 01223 235834 or rachel@baileyfisher.com
