The development of new technology is no longer the realm of large businesses, but they remain dominant in getting new offerings to market due to their strong customer relationships. New technologies often fail as they try to take on market incumbents by focusing on their existing core customer base. These new technologies believe they can win market presence because their offering is superior, but it is often not the best technology that wins but the one adopted by the largest number of customers. How do companies without market presence or strong relationships within the core target customer base gain traction? How can you position your technology so it is not seen as a direct threat to the larger enterprises, thus avoiding their wrath?
