Head of Product Management

The Company: Our client, a VC-backed start-up, has developed the world’s first Rich Messaging service—bringing together for the first time the ability to exchange text, voice messages and pictures with friends, family and colleagues across all popular instant messaging services whether sitting at a computer or using a mobile. This company offers the first service to extend all of the rich functionality of a PC-based service onto any mobile device. With users in over 50 countries their software is actively used by a growing and dedicated community. To accelerate end-user adoption our client is looking to strengthen their offering by prioritised product enhancement, as a result my client is now seeking a talented Head of Product Management.
The Role: In this newly created senior management role, reporting jointly to the CEO and CTO, you will take ownership and responsibility for the day-to-day direction and longer term planning of the company’s product development. Working closely with the CTO and head of software development, you will be expected to spend a significant proportion of your time maintaining and delivering the product roadmap.
Key responsibilities:
- This role will champion the overall customer experience by leading the development of product strategies, business cases, product definitions, designs, and implementation of core site functionality that maximises revenue, improves usability and enhances the value of the company brand.
- Prioritise roadmap of product areas and initiatives for development
- Drive product definitions which translate business needs, customer needs and technological capabilities into site features and enhancements
- Lead cross-functional teams to produce product specifications, establish milestones, and manage the development, implementation and marketing launch against goals
- Monitor the competitive landscape, identifying and leading relevant market, site and customer research
You: Having gained experience within a company that has rapidly grown a substantial Online Community you will have extensive technological knowledge, including a strong understanding of emerging digital, mobile technologies including but not restricted to messaging, communications, presence and social media. You will need to demonstrate exceptional front-end software application, product management skills. You must have worked on delivering products and services direct to end-users.
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Ideally 5-7 years product management experience in a leading mobile or web-based consumer business
- Direct experience of client side IM software, browsers, or UI design would be a distinct advantage
