Top USA not for profit organisation drops into Cambridge to foster leadership among women

ASTIA, a Silicon Valley headquartered, not-for-profit organisation set up to foster the leadership of women entrepreneurs visited Cambridge to explain how it helps high-growth companies access global risk capital.
Bailey Fisher was pleased to be able to assist Astia with bringing a number of women entrepreneurs to the event, thanks to its successful Women 4 Technology network, comprising female decision makers within the technology sector.
Meeting some of the region's leading business people, Astia's CEO Sharon Vosmek, explained how Astia provide innovative programmes to help companies access capital, encourage and cultivate their commercial development and advance the leadership of women working in high-growth firms. Astia's investments in London, New York and San Francisco offer a framework for European businesses to have high level introductions to US sources of venture capital.
Speaking at the event hosted by East of England International, the region's export and inward investment agency, Ms Vosmek said: "Over 60% of the firms Astia helps achieve funding and, collectively, our clients have raised in excess of $500 million in the ten years we have been operating. We have now launched our annual programmes in the UK and see Cambridge and the East of England as one of the world's foremost innovation hubs giving rise to many high-growth start-ups".
