BAILEY FISHER SUPPORTS SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGES
AND WORLD ORPHAN WEEK

Bailey Fisher has chosen to support SOS Children's Villages this year, the world's largest orphan charity, which helps children with nowhere else to turn, children who have lost their parents through war, famine, disease or poverty.

SOS Children's Villages cares for more than 60,000 children in 444 inspirational villages in 124 countries across the world. These villages give orphaned or abandoned children a stable family home as well as security, love, an education and hope for the future.

The charity provides homes, a family and mother in villages of between 8 and 15 houses with each house being home for up to 10 children. Their SOS mother gives them the love, support and guidance they need.

In addition to the SOS Villages, the charity supports up to one million children and their families through hundreds of schools, skills training centres, social support programmes and medical programmes. When SOS takes on a child they typically look after them until they have grown independent. The main exceptions to this are when they are able to reunite children with their families when war has separated them (for example, child soldiers in Rwanda).

SOS Children is a 'long term' charity. It creates families for children in need, helping them to shape their own futures and sharing in the development of their communities.

Get ready to ‘wear something WOW’ in February for SOS Children’s annual World Orphan Week campaign (WOW for short). ‘wear something WOW’ aims to get everyone young and old, up and down the country in offices, schools, clubs and at home wearing something wacky, extravagant or just plain out of the ordinary for one day during World Orphan Week 4 – 10 February 2008 whilst making a contribution to the world’s largest orphan charity.

Join us at Bailey Fisher and encourage all your friends, family and colleagues to ‘wear something WOW’ for a day and raise money for SOS Children in exchange for a suggested donation of £1 per child and £2 per adult (100% of donations goes to SOS Children)

SOS Ambassadors Lisa Butcher (BBC 1’s What Not To Wear) and Phil Spencer (Channel 4’s Location Location) are helping to promote the campaign.

“Who can resist the chance to ‘wear something WOW’ for a day, not me that’s for sure. I’m really excited about the campaign and as a single mother of two I feel passionately about the work that SOS Children’s does with some of the world’s most vulnerable children. I am planning to visit an SOS Children’s Village in South America before the end of the year,” enthused former model-turned TV presenter Lisa Butcher.

Phil Spencer jumped at the chance to help, “I experienced SOS Children’s work in Ghana first hand last year and was truly inspired by what I saw. If dressing up for a day will help the charity support even more children and communities, then it’s the very least I can do. I will be asking everyone I know to ‘wear something WOW’.”

Whether it’s a gorgeous pair of earrings, a wacky tie, full evening wear, fancy dress or a decorated handbag – just make it shout WOW! A fun and fabulous way to support the world's largest orphan charity!
