OVER ONE HUNDRED ALREADY RUNNING THE GAUNTLET
Bailey Fisher is one of nine commercial partners providing advice and support to entrants in the East of England Development Agency's (EEDA) 'running the gauntlet' 2007.
More than one hundred entrepreneurs have registered for the award-winning ‘running the gauntlet’ competition since it launched at the beginning of May.
The combined competition and education programme helps entrepreneurs in the East of England attract investment and offers a possible share in up to £2m from the programme’s investment partners: CREATE, Low Carbon Accelerator, NWBrown and SEP.
Among those to have registered so far are companies and individuals from across the region drawn and from sectors as diverse as IT and biotechnology and consumer services and green technology.
Entrants are also already benefiting from the education programme which includes boot camps in Cambridge (14 June), Norwich (20 June) and Chelmsford (4 July). All who register are eligible to attend, but spaces are awarded on a first come first served basis.
Companies that register by completing The Gauntlet (the virtual investor around which the competition is based) before Friday 15 June could also win a place worth £1,000 on ‘Ignite’, the intensive week-long summer school for entrepreneurs run by the Cambridge Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning.
Boyd Mulvey chief executive of CREATE and one the programme’s four investors said:
“I am very encouraged to see so many promising businesses already signed up to this year’s ‘running the gauntlet’. I would urge any entrepreneur with an early stage business to participate in this year’s excellent programme as there is a great deal of value on offer in addition to the prospect of investment.”
Richard Ellis, EEDA’s chairman said:
“The interest this competition continues to generate in its third year is absolutely terrific. We have a deep commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in the East of England and regard ‘running the gauntlet’ as one of our flagship programmes. Although the entry deadline is not until 2 September I would urge companies to come forward as soon as possible to extract the maximum value from all the free of charge advice and support on offer.”
