We were delighted to partner with CFGI and Mills & Reeve to host 25 CFOs yesterday evening for dinner at Downing College.  On an unexpectedly sunny evening, we welcomed CFOs from Cambridge’s growth technology and life sciences companies for dinner and discussion on Raising Capital in 2024.

Our guest speakers, Karl Keegan and Philip Davies of Singer Capital Markets led discussion on the outlook for raising capital in 2024 on the public markets, sharing thoughts and perspectives on the current funding picture with tips on how best to navigate and prepare for the short to mid term prospects.  Some key themes were:

  • Their outlook for the capital markets over the next 12-24 months
  • Words of caution that 2024 remains a tough market and uncertainty means it seems unlikely to pick up significantly in the near term
  • The importance of preparing early for a transaction, including entering the capital markets
  • Technology businesses are set to lead the way out of the tougher times

Companies attending included start ups and scale ups that may be considering an IPO, as well as those that have already listed, who were able to share their experiences of the journey.

Many thanks to our guest speakers Karl Keegan and Philip Davies of Singer Capital Markets. Many thanks also to Zickie Lim and Stephen Hamilton of Mills and Reeve, and Paul Cooper and Ashley Clifford of CFGI for sponsoring and co-hosting.
